Does it make a lot of difference? Do they actually handle a lot better?
I remember the forks being an issue on my old LC, under heavy braking I could feel them squirming and the front would weave.
But I'm told that if you sort the front you just end up feeling the flex in the frame and its not much better, unless you brace the frame and then something else lets it down....and its a never ending story, unless you basically change everything and then its not an LC anymore.
So is it genuinely worth putting an RGV front and rear end on and does it transform the bike?

I dont know about the handling but it does look better. I disagree mate, I think they look terrible to be honest, so I was wondering if the benefits outweigh the looks. Otherwise I don't see the point, why not just buy an RGV if thats the look you're after. Why buy an LC and try to turn it into something its not Unless it drastically alters how it handles and makes it a much better bike.

I think they look too long unbalanced and a bit shit, my mate used GSXR400 stuff and the bike looks right, RGV conversions look weird.

I think the conversions looks better on the LC2 myself.

I'd agree with that mate, I've seen a couple done with TZR front and rear and that looks closer to standard and much better. I think the standard LC is one of the nicest looking bikes out, its a shame to ruin it with bits that don't look even close to standard.

Horses for courses, I hate anything standard, there's always room for improvement

Horses for courses, I hate anything standard, there's always room for improvement Horses for courses is right! Maybe I'm just fussy but apart from my 916 I don't think I've owned another bike that I've liked every part of it, so why not change it until it looks how you want it to? I always loved the look of the LC ( never liked the YPVS ) but now the spindly forks and skinny tyres don't do it for me so changing them for RGV, GSXR or whatever keeps its main looks but makes it a touch more modern looking! Just my opinion!

do what Martin and Seanlad has, right way up KR1S front end or early 3MA, looks standard at first glance and not big fat fork tubes like RGV forks and you dont loose as much steering lock. Im a mear mortal and cant feel my forks or frame flexing! ;D

That 3ma bike looks ok, but I'm back to my original question does it significantly improve the bike or is it just cosmetic.

You can't have done any fast riding with grippy tyres then, as you'd feel the whole bike twisting and squirming underneath you . I've done several track days with completely std chassis and it feels like the bike is made of rubber..... you can feel it flexing everywhere, even at the rear. Stiffer forks, swingarm, better brakes and the ability for fit modern radial rubber makes a massive difference. The LC I've got now (though the engine's sick at the moment ) feels like riding a modern bike when you're pushing it along, 10 times more stable and composed

I thing the RGV LC's look a little dumpy YPVS's with them fitted look nice but id sooner have the gun met set up above then the RGV on an LC any day

They were all I had in-stock when I changed them from the high Renthals that were fitted previously and I didn't want to part with any more £££ ;D

The lower/flatter the bars, the more weight it puts over the front and I find the bike more planted and easier to hussle about with the flats. Renthal Ultra-low are the only other option over standard I reckon. With the higher braced Renthals mine had on it previously, it was like riding a trials bike and makes the front a bit nervous over bumps when you're pushing it. Each to their own though

I'd planned to use Renthal street fighter bars.
I've just spent the last couple of years racing motocross, so slightly higher bars than the ultra-lows would probably feel ok to me.

Wonna buy my old ones ?......lol I haven't decided exactly what I'm doing with it yet, its currently in the garage being MOT'ed, if that turns out bad I'll be concentrating on just getting it roadworthy first Once its MOT'd I then need to get it registered (its a German import)....so I've got a bit of hassle to get through before I start throwing parts at it. I'm just weighing up my options.

the other option is FZR400 parts... the front fits on with only the lock-stops needing changed (and different bearings). the rear fits in with minimal work. I think the banana-arm is too long and makes the bike look too stretched - personally I LOVE USD front-ends, although in reality the 43mm forks I have on mine now are probably way-stronger than the headstock......
