Chaps, my engine builder has advised I run in my newly rebuilt 350(new crank/bearings/pistons/rings etc) for 100 miles at 4,500, 100 miles at 5,500,100 miles at 6,500 etc , up to max RPM.
I never run in a 350 in back in the day, would the collective say this is the way to go?
I understand about not labouring the engine and all that means.

Did 50 miles at no more than 5000 revs to bed rings in, next 50 at 6000 revs next 50 at 7000 then it was on a dyno no need to run the crank in. All you do is run the rings and barrels in. Don't hold the revs either keep varying engine speed. Also keep an eye on the head bolts and retorque regularly I did mine to 23 pounds when I built it, after 150 miles one was only hand tight

Was it rebored or just new pistons & rings. If it was just pistons & rings do a few heat cycles then 100 miles up & down the rev range below 7000 then thrash it like you stole it

What was the running procedure from Yam back in the day, anyone remember? Appreciate everyones replies.

Just checked my owners manual and it states:
0 - 300 miles Avoid operation above 6000rpm. Stop the engine and let it cool for 5 to 10 minutes after every hour of operation. Vary the speed of the motorcycle from time to time. Do not operate it at one set throttle speed.
300 - 600 miles Avoid prolonged operation above 7000rpm. Rev the motorcycle freely through the gears, but do not use full throttle at any time.
After 600 miles Be sure to change the transmission oil.
600 miles and beyond Full throttle can be used

Yes it is, I could find nothing regarding fresh rings

just for new rings I would only do 50 miles of running in just to bed them in and a few heat cycles first
