back in august 05 i got zapped by a mobile camera in my car. i decided to challenge it in court. (long story short) can't challenge the camera but can about the signing of the road issues. a speed zone is like an envelope/bubble, all roads leading in must be signed correctly for the speed zone to be legal/work. if you can prove that a road is not signed correctly then the "bubble" bursts and the whole zone is compromised. using legal aid (??) and the testimony of the only signing expert in the country, this is my (and 6 other cases) stand in court. 8,9,10th October it all kicks off in court. my experts case study for my situation alone is a 92 page booklet, the prosecutions case book is a mere 2 paragraphs written only June this year. got an extremely good chance off walking away Scot free, (if i lose possibly looking at a £3000.00 fine and 6-9 points) even if i do lose we are going to appeal to a crown court and i ain't never gonna pay that kind of fine anyway bang me up i say.
keep you all posted as to what happens........in hope Jamie.

Thats not a normal fine in sure . £60 or there abouts and 3 points is more like it . the fine for the speeding is anything up to a grand the rest is the court fees, and as it goes to court you waive the right to 3 points so the magistrate can impose a point value of 6-9 as he deems fit.

bloody hell . The problem is you are trying to get out of it on a tecnicality. You did brake the law and speed , so if you dont get out of it they will be pised of with you and slap a big fine and points on you .

bought a sat nav with speed camera locations works a treat ;D i now have a GPX NAVIGATOR, its a cross between a simple camera detector and a sat nav. it has extra stuff like locate the nearest train station, airport etc. where you are globally, height above sea level and exactly how fast you are really going. my van speedo is 5-6 mph out, my car is 9-11 mph out at around 80mph, (on private roads of course). there is a function to add a particular point like your house and then (using a direction arrow) you can find your way back home. two years ago it was £179 which was bloody cheap compared to other stuff around at the time. it won't find mobile cameras but that really does not matter i know where most of them sit in the area i work ie the south coast ha! this does me, as long as i don't get caught by fixed cameras, i'll fight mobile ones every time.

[glow=red,2,300]YESSSSSSSSS[/glow]
case dismissed the district judge had to bow to section 85 of the road traffic act (cannot prosecute an unenforceable speed limit) as my solicitor argued that point due to the bubble/envelope theory. that now becomes whats known as case law i'm bloody famous now as it will be referred to in future cases: CROWN 'V' COLEMAN.
more importantly is that other road users who have had speeding tickets issued in that same spot can ask to have the points removed and there money back, it could potentially cost the crown/police thousands.
just don't accept that because you receive a speeding ticket that you are automatically in the wrong, if you feel that something is not as it should be legally (like i did) challenge it, the law (should) work both ways for and against.
was it worth it, 2 years and 2 months.......yes it bloody well was, i'm fed up of big brother sitting on my shoulder now i feel i have had (some) payback.
