Got my 400F pump back off Arrow today, Top job as usual. He spotted that it was only oiling on full throttle, really pleased I sent it as it wouldn`t have done my £600 odd engine rebuild any good. Many thanks.

Thanks for that I'm pleased you are happy with it. The pump had a zero gap is what was said, and will not oil until throttle is moved.

My pump in the post to Arrow as well, well worth it for the peace of mind of knowing your pump is working as well as Mr Yamaha intended.

My pump back from Arrow yesterday, less than a week turn-around, including a bank-holiday. Excellent level of communication, letting me know what was found when apart and asking exactly how I wanted it set up, did I want to maintain the original screws or use allen screws? More or standard oil delivery and genuine Yammie gaskets supplied too! Oh and a splash of Yellow paint in the right place! Obviously a great deal of attention to detail taken, as well as a high level of skill, the pump was positively sparkling clean, complete with a report of what was done and a how to get the best from you pump, set up and running. - very professional Great stuff, I cant praise highly enough, If you have a pump that needs bringing back to life then send it to Arrow, I wish I could do this standard of work, but Carpol Tunnel in my hand has me off the road again this year. As an engineer I can certainly appreciate exactly how much care has gone into re-furbishing this oil pump. thanks Arrow

I don't see why everyone wants more oil....
Oils have improved since the 80's, the bikes were fine in the 80's.
So today you will be just fine with standard oil pump flow. As long as you run a good quality oil..

I don't see why everyone wants more oil.... Oils have improved since the 80's, the bikes were fine in the 80's. So today you will be just fine with standard oil pump flow. As long as you run a good quality oil.. The main reason why 2-strokes don't last as long as 4-strokes is due to the lack of a "proper" lubrication system. 4-strokes run un-diluted oil all the time. The amount of 2T oil going through a 2-stroke motor is fook all. There are many historical reasons for this, but we can change things for the better. Two years down the line, from new, the exhaust ports were full of carbon. We don't get that now, using yet more oil because of their superior burn qualities. Put more oil through these engines and they will last much longer than they did back in the day, and with less smoke than back in the day. And you can change the spark plugs just once per season, and de-coke once every ten years or so.

quick question to you, as you do all the oil pumps you must have an oil that you recommend for our bikes. What do you advice?

quick question to you, as you do all the oil pumps you must have an oil that you recommend for our bikes. What do you advice? Quite simply, ANYTHING that's JASO FC or FD rated, and or ISO GC or GD rated. All these specs. will be on the bottle.

Plus 20 arrow is the pump god. He will help you out with any questions and the pump came back like it was sent from Mr Yamaha himself. Top man Gary is. Thanks, I always try my best mate. The oil pump service is not just a case of putting new seals in. The pump is completely stripped, the cams are checked (this is most important as if they fail the check then the pump cannot deliver enough oil at full bore) I only had one fail to date. Most have an almost zero stroke (that's zero oil up to 1/4 throttle setting!). I had two recently where the pulley springs were shot. Some of the balls in the check valves are discoloured and marked, causing them to not seal properly, so these are replaced. There is more but I won't boar you with it.

Asked Gary to message me once he had reconditioned/checked my LC & YPVS pump, so I could pay before he sent them.
Got a PM from Gary on Friday saying he was going to put both in the post that night. Was busy Friday so didn't respond.
Saturday they were delivered by the postman! I hadn't even paid!
Paid as soon as I received them.
Its not often these days that people trust those they do not know. He is obviously a real enthusiast who wants to help our niche market.
Hats off to you sir.
