hi all, yesterday i got a jury summons through the post, ive never been before, can any body tell me what to expect ie how long im likley to be there and if im going to be out of pocket through loss of earnings? the form says i will recieve £29.19 per day up to 4 hours and £58.38 per day of over 4 hours plus 28p per mile traveling fee for petrol (40 miles each way) it also states it could last up to 200 days and theres basicly no way out! if i only get the amount above i will be in serious overdraft trouble

if you can prove that the jury service will be detrimental to your job in a major way (ie training course, training someone up etc) then you can ask for the service to be suspended/deferred until the time is right for you (specify a good time). this has worked for my old boss TWICE.

sounds good to me,to be honest the only reason i dont realy want to do it is because i can see i will end up out of pocket and it will cause my boss a load of greif as he runs a 2 man company (me and him,im employed by him). £29 per day is an insult in my opinion!
