Hi Folks In the next couple of months I'm going to be digging my 400DX out of my Mums garage where its been for nine years It's going to have a refresh, it needs paint, motor strip, but is 3 owner matching numbers, Stan Stephens tuned 'old skool' that I've had since 1990 ;D One of the problems that took it off the road in the first place was the ignition and loom. The loom is easily sorted but the ignition has me thinking As it's a DX it originally had points so: It has a Newtronics atm, but I think it's packed up To fit an LC ignition (I have a few of those!) I'm guessing I will have to fit a 400E crank Has anybody done this, or is there a way of getting it to work with the existing 400DX crank? Or am i just better off spending a hundred odd quid on another Newtronics? Any help appreciated Higgs

I would put it back to points. I set my 400C up 3 years ago and done 5000 and not touched it.

I was beginning to think the same Paul, I'm not convinced with the Newtronics and apparently its unavailable atm due to a redesign.
I'll see what the crank looks like when I pull it apart and go from there, it might be possible to fit a 400e crank and go down that route I guess

if you can find a 400E/F crank, they are like rokcing horse pooh, I've been after one for ages now, they never come up for sale and those people who do have them seem to be hanging onto them You'd be better going back to points unless you have a crank already, but then if you do, ypou'd be better going back to points and selling me the crank for my 400E engine ;D
