It was me who sold the DT to Bill. There's never been a problem between us, only me deciding to stop using outlook.com and forgetting the emails I'd sent Bill were set default return to oulook not my providers email. So a few went unanswered for a while, both ways. Anyway, thought I'd present my side of the story purely as I've only ever sold a bike with the intention of someone being happy with it ...or I'll gladly break them for much needed spares for the Museum bikes Firstly I don't bring many DTs over as they are more popular (higher asking prices) abroad than the RDs are, hence I've built up a big collection of RDs over the years (and only a few trailies that cost me more than I'd really liked (sold my MTX 125 on UK ebay for cost price inc transport) I had for sale a DT MK2 YPVS for £749 BIN, nice and original and excellent runner and road tested by me in Belgium. It sold quickly and delivered to Hastings in person and watched the guys have some fun on it around the block (no crash helmets lol) Bill had seen the bike above and was in touch via ebay, but was on holiday IIRC and asked me if I had something cheaper to restore. I offered him the choice of two in the following photo for £550 that IMO only needed light restoration and were good standing runners after the carbs being flushed out by me and my retired two stroke enthusiast (Suzuki T500) friend Peter. Bill chose the Black one, (I still have the White one (I think its that one lol) ) I was happy to let it go as a runner, so was surprised when he emailed to say he received it as a non runner. In my experience, barn finds that have their first start up and run, often go down with crank seals, sometimes as soon as the following day, which makes sense. So suggested to him the seals. Anyway to cut a long story short and boy do I feel Bill's pain when you're trawling through connections and parts on a bike to solve a problem. Bill had it as bad as anyone, but from what I gather it turned out having a stator problem and Bill finally got lucky, finding a new one on ebay for less than 1/3 of the price of having one rewound Hope he is finally enjoying the bike! I've still only ever ridden the top one in recent times and was surprised how well they accelerate for a 'little' 125 (maybe just getting old lol )

Yep, we got there in the end and all turned out well. The communication breakdown was just unfortunate. I actually saw the white one on eBay but was offered the black one instead which I accepted. The main culprit was the stator, but the crank seals and mains being stood so long didn't help. Was ready to torch the bloody thing at one (many) times!! Anyway, the number plate slogan is: The one that drove me to the edge! Apt, I'd say.
