Bring on the abuse for it now being an LC, but 20 valves makes it almost a Yamama!
Norbo feel free to move this so another section, but this is my latest project!
I’m the 2nd owner from new and picked it up back in March with 45,000 on the clock. After a weekend cleaning, polishing and simply de scumming I was happy with her apart from a small dint in the front passenger wing it’s quite a clean car.
Anyway that was then and now is now. As with everything you get used to it, so next up was a K&N panel filter, smoother airbox and R32 inlet along with a 3 inch down pipe/decat mated to a scorpion discreet system. Much better! But now I want more!
So I’ve decided a big turbo conversion of sorts is needed! GT28 being the likely candidate but I want to build the engine ready to take more in the future as eventually I’d like it in a 4 motion shell.
Nearly 3 years ago a friend of a friends AGU Audi A3 got hit whilst parked outside his house. With no idea who did it, it was shoved into his garden and left it. Until last Saturday when he told me he was selling it. £175 later we had a deal! So that morning me and my friend set to work removing everything I wanted/needed for the golf. Subframes, calipers, Engine and various other parts. There was a lot of damage to the driver’s door and b pillars so the shell is a write off so I’ll make a fair bit back scrapping whats left.
Now with the engine back at mine I began to strip it down. Buried under all the leaves, mud and grime it wasn’t in bad nick.
Thats it for now, hope to get down to a bare block tommorow morning ready to access what needs doing.
