practical sportsbikes has a feature on rd500lc specials one of which is featured on this forum , a very trick tdr/rd500 hybrid which features a 4 pipe under seat arrangment well worth a buy , also i see in last mounths that 7up 250lc hy-brid project that sold on ebay not so long ago Gary Hurd slated as not worth it , maybe he ort to stick to his big GSX suzuki's n leave strokers to us

Hi, Yep the Q plate Hybrid, it was in Eton, the fella is a Chemist at Eton College. I thought it looked cheap and worth a look. Basically I thought it would be worth getting to break it, both for parts for my Hybrid and to sell on the rest. It's too good for that though. Tank has a few chips in the paint but is spotless inside. It's got a 31k engine fitted, and I think, Stan Stevens pipes, AP front caliper and master cylinder, Micron fork brace and some other goodies. Loads of receipts for work done. The fella bought it for track days but never used it, and it sat in his garage for years. Hope to pick it up midweek in a mates van. Paid a grand for it. Only downside is one of the others has to go to make room for it . Crap picture I'm afraid; I'll post some better pics when I get it. Dusty

Hi, I think it was a good buy. We couldn't get it started, but I cant see a reason why it wont with a bit of time spent on it.Didn't have long to look at getting it running as I had popped out of work to have a look, but the owner seems honest and genuine and the bike looks like it's been looked after. The Gsx will probably be sacrificed to pay for it which is a shame, but it would give me some spare cash for the other bikes.

Hi, I'm pretty pleased to get it so cheap, my other Hybrid was a wreck and still cost me £800.00 to buy. Goes to show that bargain Lc's are still out there. I wonder how many are languishing in sheds and garages ? Pick mine up late this afternoon. I have got all the paperwork and receipts for it. Lots done at PDQ and Stan Stephens. A prior owner was a fella by the name of Mr Baynes from Leatherhead, Surrey. A member on here ?

Hi, Another bargain by the looks of it ! Why did you need a reg number ? I am looking into the process of getting an age related plate to replace the "Q" on mine, so wondered how the process worked for you ? Did you have to get a dating certificate from Yamaha ? Dusty

hi , i called the dvla , they told me i could just use a v62 form but leave the reg blank as i did'nt have it , send a cheque n they would trace my number by the chassis number , had a letter back the other day from the dvla told me they wan't to inspect it just to make sure it is what i say it is then give me the oridinal reg number if it has one if not its a age relation certificate & possibly a £55 charge to regesters it on an age related number , but your lc maybe more difficult seeing as it has a ypvs engine & is not oridinal thus why it wears a Q prefix a mate of mine is in the same boat means what he's been building is worthless only if he breaks it up

Last time i tried that dvla told me to get lost but unless its changed you used to be able to hpi the frame number and it would bring up the reg number

The issue I may have with trying to re register it is the fact it has a Ypvs engine fitted. I don't know how "stock" the bike has to be for a succesfull inspection. Trouble is £40.00 for a dating certificate, possibly £55.00 for re registration and then the cost of getting it to my local DVLA office, and you are getting near to the cost of another frame with a proper reg on it anyway. When I had an old 400 on a "Q" it was a pain to insure. Don't know if that's changed at all, but I would prefer an age related plate.

Oh, ok, thanks for that info. Still not sure what to do yet. Frames with V5's seem a bit thin on the ground at the mo, usually German registered ones which probably have the same problems.
