Hi, I'm new here but have been looking for a 350 LC for some time now, have viewed a few but Everytime I find one they look great in photos then you arrive to find it doesn't look as good close up! Maybe I'm just being too fussy and I know I'm looking at 30 year old bikes but that feeling you get of "someone's been here" when you view just makes me think its hiding a multitude of sins. Also price?? They are all over the place! But I'm thinking around the £4000 mark gets you something reasonable? I looked at one recently that had been in Ireland and registered here this year so makes it a 2012, oh and it had zero history! The guy said it had been fully rebuilt but had nothing to back up his claim?!? He wanted over £4000 bike looked ok but something told me to walk away! Is this normal??? Surely you would want some kind of history backing up the bikes 30 year existence?? I'm not new to biking just new to LCs but I've always loved em!! Any help and advice would be appreciated.

You'll be lucky to find anything with any decent history in 30 years ! Or even a lower owner bike.

I've had 2 350LCs. My first one was in 1981 and brand new £1325. My second one I bought last year and cost me £3400. It was mint, not concourse but had been totally rebuilt/ resprayed. A very nice Candy Blue 1982 bike. Everything seemed great- for a month, then the crankshaft snapped in two. New crank, rebore and new pistons later, it is now how I like it. Total cost to me in 12 months - just over £4K. So, £4K should get you a really, really nice bike, but beware. Thirty years is an awful lot of history and it might well be better spending half that and doing one up to the standard you want. Spares are generally plentiful on the mechanical side, but harder for things like tanks etc. The engine is a dream to rebuild, goes together like a Lego set. Plus, any technical help you may need is in abundance on this forum from fellow enthusiasts. You will love riding it. It is so different to something like a GSX R750 and makes a really nice change to ride. The sound, the smell and the envious looks from others is pleasure itself. Go for it

Keep looking, the right one will turn up. It took me 12 months to find the one I have, it was well worth the wait.

Keep in mind these are 30 year old bikes that were beaten and abused by teenage hooligans back in the day. Very few of them got any respect and a lot of them got wrecked.

Will try and get photos up when I get a min, mad times at work! I'm near epping, where do the Essex lot meet? I'm fairly new to these parts, I've been to finchingfield on my hayabusa and burnham before I sold it, (nice ride out) I'm used to Kent & Sussex I'm afraid so any new rides this way would be great!

I have also done the same. It's really difficult but I found it best to go for a low mileage one and most of the other bits are cosmetic like indicators, horns and switchgear. The paint on mine is good but it's still getting resprayed LOL. They be very addictive. Good luck dude ,-)
