Sad day for m, cycle racing as we say bye to in my opinion to one of the most talented riders casey stoner, certainly up there with the best. What could be so bad about moto gp for a dedicated fantastic, gifted rider to quit . I guess that some of you guys saw the pre race comment from him ,,, i just really dont want to be here,,,,. I wish him luck and tbh think he will be back or maybe blind optomism on my part .

very good rider,he will be missed, but i think he hasnt been the same since he became a dad.fatherhood does strange things to you.on the bright side, when a top rider retires, there always seems to be someone to fill the void.so maybe we have a new exciting rider about to burst on the scene.

I hope he comes back. I would have liked to see him on the honda against rossi on the yamaha. Think it would have made next year really interesting.

Think he'll be back (hope so anyway) who'll push Lorenzo now ? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Watch out for Marquez next season. Only 19 but what a rider. Started 33rd on Sunday and won Moto2 race - nearly 1 second a lap quicker than 2nd place rider, Terol in slimy conditions. The next Rossi IMO!

I guess that some of you guys saw the pre race comment from him ,,, i just really dont want to be here,,,,. I never really subscribed to the whole "Casey Moaner" thing but i did hear that comment and was really quite shocked, ive heard similar riders say things on the grid before but always with half a smile on their face. He said it and truly meant it..I was left thinking perhaps he did earn that monkier for good reason....shame. A championship is more than 1 man, 2012 wasnt MotoGP's finest hour, 2013 has to be better, with or without him in it...WSB and BSB was better than MotoGP for sure.

'Casey Moaner' - Doohan was a bit the same, reportedly. Max was said to be high maintenance and I don't think Kenny Roberts was ever regarded as a soft touch. Maybe complaining, was how they were perceived outside their teams? From 10 feet away, with the tape recorded going. Maybe it was their way of trying to get perfection within their team and they didn't give a shit about what was reported, becuase it would always be edited anyway.
Marquez should be awesome. Well, he already is. Next year there may well be 3 Aliens and one (more) Spaniard throwing the bike at the scenery. 2014 may be 4 Aliens.
I hope Cal Crutchlow develops the necessary feel that it seems they all need to develop to stay on the bike and at the front.
Lastly, has Dani Pedrosa finally grown the balls he needed 3 or 4 years ago. He's been fantastic and aggressive, but too late again.

Good luck to the lad enjoyed every bit of it. The best compliment i can give him is he is a throw back to the win it or bin it school of racing, Schwantz, Gardner anyone, Thats not to detract from him being an awesome rider just an fantastic attitude to racing. People said during his Ducati years he had blind faith in electronics which gave him the edge but in actual fact he backed everything right off.
A thing that people seem to forget is all the hullaboloo when rossi went from Honda to Yamaha and won 1st time out it was as though he had parted the Red Sea Casey did the same on the Honda and that bike hadn't won a championship since Nicky Hayden some 5 years earlier.
Is he the best of the current bread? well i think we can say he is the fastest but i think Lorenzo is the better at putting a championship together.
And as for Marquez, could his undoubtable skill prevail? i would think so but it could take a while, i think the majority of pundits have sited Pedrosa biggest problem for a long time was his lack of bulk (and agression possibly linked to his size) and i don't think Marquez is any bigger.
So to next year, well, until they get more than three manufacturers on the grid and even then only two of them can win it will be as dull as dull can be, and this is where we came in with Casey's comment 'I am a motogp champion get me out of ere'

I don't remember Doohan as a moaner - but maybe 25 years living in Oz gives you a different view.
I do remember his comment about Biaggi when both were in the same class...
"Max cries so much he should be sponsored by Kleenex" :-)

"Max cries so much he should be sponsored by Kleenex" :-) Doohan was/is a proper legend, he was not afraid to voice his comments but it was his open dislike of not being THAT interested in the press / PR bullshit that earnt him a label as sometimes difficult to deal with or even talk too...but he was not labelled a moaner in his era or now.

I can remember being at Donnington in the very early 90s at the Esses, Mick Doohan was attempting to keep the front wheel on the floor whilst laying black lines on the floor with his rear wheel. If you missed it first time round, you could wait a few minutes and he'd do exactly the same thing on the next lap. Awesome

I remember Rossi's comment before going to Ducati "i cant really evaluate the Ducati because Stoner isnt trying" and then Burgess "it will take us 80 seconds to fix that bike [Ducati]" funny how the Rossi fan boys forget. Stoner wasnt really a moaner and Rossi doesnt really walk on water.
Its just Rossi has a better PR team and Stoner doesnt really bother with that stuff.
