As a Guess :-) a "Few" pennies and not too many additional Horses. Yess the increased Tip area from all those extra reeds does allow for a snappier midrange. But an Engine can only inhale so many CFM's and many records have been set with Oem type Reeds/blocks, which have proven ..not a bottleneck... limit to HP.

Come on spill How many pennies? And how many extra ponies? a tad over £200 then £30 for the spacers trying to get near to 80hp ( currently at 73 and lean ) Steve

But an Engine can only inhale so many CFM's and many records have been set with Oem type Reeds/blocks, which have proven ..not a bottleneck... limit to HP. Admit price is not proportional to HP increase but the point of the 385 build was to make a grunty 2 stroke that didn't have to be thrashed. Peak horsepower nice but a by product of the other work. Currently making 45hp at 7K which is about the peak of the standard motor so mission achieved really. The motor has more potential and as pipes, porting, head and ignition have been done the fueling is the last area that is not at100% of the potential. We all know these bikes are not value for money when it comes to power which is why most have a big diesel as well. It's all just fun Steve

So, you are on your next trip/stage, Steve? I am waiting... Probably be next year before it gets back on the dyno but going to go up 2 sizes on the mains and fit the reeds. Going to check compression and squish to see how they are and if need fine tuning before deciding whether to take the top end off to replace powervalves as was not happy with the fit of them ( stiff and slightly out of horizontal alignment ) If all ok I may run it through next year before a refresh next winter. Not just chasing top end, there is a slight lull in the torque curve in the mid that fueling/reeds should sort as it's rich at the bottom and weak at the top. Steve
