Alway something for me to sort oyt Just wondered if any one has advice on what might be causing my speedo to stick. K31 ypvs. When bike stood for say 3 days when I first go out the speedo will not register until about 1/4 mile or wen I get o approx 30 mph for about 30 sec then it jumps into use. Had cable out and that appears ok. Anyone had similar issues? Thanks

A common problem on the 31k, Ive had two lc2 and they both did that, also now and again they will make a high pitch squeal, when that happens put a bit of grease on the end of the speedo cable, clocks end. I wouldn't worry about it

Had a couple like this.
2 things can cause it
1st is the mechanism sticking because it is either dry or the grease has dried and gone sticky. Both solved by opening up the clocks, removing the speedo and spraying all moving parts carefully with wd40 or similar. Watch you don't get it on the face (a bit like some women)
2nd is simpler and had it on one that I had lubed and still had the problem. Clean the speedo stop and needle. The stop is made of rubber and had gone off a bit leaving it sticky so the needle sticks to it.
Worth a try

Had the same problem and never got to the bottom of it, some good suggestions here 'if' you want to strip the clocks. neither of mine worked last year, then the rev counter sparked into life a week before it comes off the road, probably be stuck again, when I get to use it next year.
I thought the dials were two 'spinning' cups/magnet inside one? so therefore nothing would touch the speedo needle and cause it to stick, (apart from the rubber stop mentioned) where is that bit?

Had the same problem on my 31k rev counter, striped it and just flicked the needle and gave it a spray with wd40.

Thanks for all of the feedback. Looks like I will have to strip the clocks down over winter....
When it sticks even taking the cable out at the front wheel drive and spinning causes no movement on the clock. Must be just dry.

Only problem with WD40 is it evaporates and gives the same problem soon afterwards.
