I am new to this forum, and I hope someone can help with a bit of advice.
I've been building an RD350LC/TZR hybrid this year. I'm most of the way through, but have had a setback with the clutch basket. The clutch basket fingers were grooved, so I ordered a Mitaka basket.
Does anyone have experience of having fitted these?
I understand the replacement screws rather than original rivets are under very little shearing forces, however they do look weaker than original.
Also they are only 12mm long and the new basket has a 16mm thread depth. Surely a longer screw (12.9 grade) Loctited in will have less chance of loosening?

Decided to work on something less critical, and worry about the basket another day.
I too am (probably) being overly worried.

At last, my clutch basket is finally going to be bolted on soon. It has really been a stumbling point. First the wobbly centre bush was replaced (after they finally were in stock again) ... then the 12.9 screw saga (4 attempts at different stockists advertising 12.9 screws, but they were 10.9) ... Then countersinking the back plate! I know you said it was hardened Headcoats, but I really didn't expect that much hassle in doing it. HHS CSk bit was no good at all. I had to use grinding stones in a die grinder.
