Was reading my LC book last night and come to a section on exhausts, was surprised to read that they author claimed the Allspeeds made the bike lose power over stock but gave it a fuller midrange. Microns apparently where (are?) best for top end , at the expense of midrange. Thats not as how I remembered it from back in the day and I WAS happy having stock exhausts but after hearing the Allspeeds on Micks bike at Silverstone this weekend, I fancy a set now, im not worried if they do lose a couple of BHP Vs stock, as long as the thing is running and fuelling correctly. Just interested if you guys agree with what I read last night. Attachments:

Can only speak of YPVS but think Lc is the same.
My first bike came with Microns and did have better top end power but wanted to rev beyond the red line and had a flat spot at 5 -6k
Got fed up with the no mid so got a set of allspeeds and hello mid range. They would not rev past 9.5k but were a good all round pipe.
Microns tend to be harder to set up where as allspeed/gibson straight forward and do sound good.
Both now don't compare to the pipes kenny makes.

Correct me Mike...all chambers, immaterial of the brand/make, tends to skew power band, most often than not, to the top end at the expense of mid range. I have had complete loss of mid range, not to speak of the complete loss of bottom end.

On older pipes yes but sure one of Allspeed's tag lines was raising power without raising peak rpm or something like that. On a modern pipe like Kenny's you don't lose the bottom and mid. Mine pulls from 2.5K and is strong between 4 and 6 and peaks at 9.6k so no need for the all or nothing scream it's nuts off delivery. If I get time I was going to do a vid of it pottering around to show how driveable it is. Mine is not standard but others have had impressive results on standard ish motors. Steve

Only ever had old Microns fitted to my IUA. Albeit with 'some' porting, PWks and Zeel ZERO flat spots ..anywhere. Real / Useable power from 3500 on up. In fact I can (usually do :-) WOT from 4000 to 10.5k (now reset to 10k :-)without even a stumble let alone a missfire. Never even gave it a second thought. Isn't this the way it's supposed to be, if passably fettled ?

Not so with the small can Allspeeds (Gibsons) on my 375LC low down the same as std but big boost in the mid range and top same about 9500rpm IMHO the midrange is where the bike or any bike spends most of its life put another way weve std pipes which where nearly new n.o.s items (so not coked up) the bike wouldn't lift the front wheel in 2nd gear on the throttle with the Allspeeds fitted it will easily ;D
