Hey guys, noob here. Trying to find out something about some old cases I found in my workshop.... I've never seen anything like this. Anyone seen a mass produced Jappa without an engine number?

I think all the domestic Japanese bikes never had much more than the model prefix, I've got a YPVS engine the same as yours, with just 29L, and seen an RZV the same.

Yeah mate. As far as I can tell, it's a Jap import 250. Thought it would have had a number though.

same thing on my 1981 xj650 here in australia, it was aus delivered, ive been led to believe they had a sticker for the number but they just fell off, could have been mis-informed though.

As said, jap bikes don't have engine numbers so will just be stamped with the model code.

Hey Noob, I have a 4L3...it is a 1981/2 model RD250LC [non YPVS] meant for the Jap market. In fact, they call it RZ250.
Jap market bikes only have the prefix as the engine number but with the complete chassis number.
