Hi All Nearing the end of my rebuild on my 31k, so bought a set of microns from someone on this site who said microns would fit straight on to your 31k. I am now having a bit of a dilemma on this as they don’t seam to fit that well, no place to put the springs and a bit of a gap between the exhaust and head. Do I need a different fitment for a 31k? Any suggestions welcome. Thanks in advance.

Thanks Steve and Mellow...great advise and looks the flanges will solve it, I did put in the copper gaskets with plenty of heat resistant liquid gasket.

The gap you have there is virtually the same as my 31k. As midlifecrisis says,as long as you use the gasket you will get a good seal. Mine uses the washer type flange placed under the nut for the springs.

It looks like your flanges are welded on to the pipes, if so, you don't need springs as they pull the pipes closer to the flange for a better seal.

Put Microns on an lc recently with the same big gap. Used just the round copper type exhaust gasket and it's fine,I haven't got the springs attached as it locked up nice and snug and doesn't leak.

as above, they look like the pipes have been welded to the flanges so no springs needed

Drill 2. 3 mm holes in the flange at about 11/1 o,clock fit the springs thru them Or get a flange bolt mount , a 10mm spacer in between the barell and pipe flange will help

as above, they look like the pipes have been welded to the flanges so no springs needed The microns have a double skinned header so the weld you see is where the outer skin is welded on. Flange goes in between the two skins, joint is actually where you see the grey sealant so springs are required. Steve
