I know people have used R1 (blue spot) calipers on their bikes and NK racing do spacers for the brackets.
Can you use the standard discs with these? and are other blue spot calipers from yamaha the same? (I'm thinking the ones from the Fazer etc)

Hi, I think there are more than one type of blue spot caliper. Mine are R1's, and work with standard Ypvs discs and Nk racing brackets.

pretty sure fazer 1000 ones are the same (probably 600 too) as the ad blurb when they were launched said they had r1 brakes and as the yamaha parts bin is not that big i would not think there were 2 types of blue spots

Think they're all the same mounting wise, but some of the earlier ones had an external pipe on the bottom and look a bit w@nk. Got them on mine, without the w@nk pipe

All the 'blue spot' calipers are the same fixing, as pointed out there are two types: with or without external pipe coupling. R1, Fazer, R6 etc. all the same brake. Gold, Silver and indeed blue, it's only the piston colour that's different
TZR250: one Blue spot caliper with Brembo master cylinder is the brake of choice in the YPM's !

Thundercat and Thunderace are two piece so have the link pipes and as already said are a bit wank. The inner part of the blue spot is silver too so easy to spot.

I have a set of R1 gold spot calipers which I believe are the same as the blue spots. My plan is to fit a set of early slotted Seca disks to the LC wheel and then fab up some conversion plates to make everything work together. Should be a nice yet subtle upgrade to the LC.
