this bike is now doing my head in.
changed stator and cdi and took it out for a ride and still no revs above 5k. but it revs freely wen not under any load
wats next??

Have you had the top end of are the rings stuck in. Have you got the washer under the main jet .

it was running fine before the stator went belly up. will pull the carb and check for a washer

ive rried the one i had rewound be west coast and one i bought from a forum member. both the same.

I bought a Rd125lc Mk3 which would not rev over 5k,
turned out it had a mk1 conrod in it, 5mm too short!

have you checked the pickup coil clearance and ohms,

sorry to hear it's not fixed raven. it sounds daft but i've had this once before and it turned out to be the spark plug!! worth a try?

loos conection on the Ht coil worth a look .

update time. changed the plug,stator,coil,checked all the wiring. and still no difference. then changed the 10w carb that was on it for the 12A i had as a spare and hey presto goes like stink. anyone got any ideas as to why this could be? click the picture to hear her crackle  |

Maybe the throttle slide was not opening fully? Blocked main jet? Problem with the choke cicuit or even the choke 'flap' not fully opening when the choke is off?
I'm glad it's sorted and running as it should. If only there was an RD bible with all the answers :-)
