i've seen many bikes for sale with damage to the crank casing for sale chain snapping can this be repaired if so what is the cost any body had the repair and can recomand the repairer thanks

Normal damage is the flat area above the sprocket gets snapped off. This doesn't really cause any problems in itself, only cosmetic. Easiest way to get it repaired is to cut a section out of a scrap crankcase. Use the outer cover as a jig to get the threaded holes lined up and any decent ally welder should be able to weld it up. You will probably need to remove and strip the engine first though.
