just got back my 350 4l0 cylinders from taymar racing in kent after a rebore. Now i know that 31k pistons are the norm to use now but my question is how important is it to remove the tang from the skirt at the back of the piston as im sure i read somewhere that it should and wuy.
thanks

You will get a 50/50 response on this one from LC owners. Some will say leave it, some will say have it removed. I had to rebuild my motor last year (crank blew up) and Derby Racing provided the bits and pieces, including new pistons. They recommended removing the tang, so I let them. The reason being that there is a chance of it snagging the inlet port. I've not heard of this happening to anyone (doesn't mean to say it never has) but I don't see any function for it in an LC engine. Personally, I would remove it but, as I say, there are quite a few who say leave it on. Your choice.

Excuse the thread jack , but what are the advantages of fitting 31k pistons?

The main advantage is availability as a lot of places only supply YPVS pistons. My opinion on removing the tang is it's a small price to pay for peace of mind.

I left mine in and the motor started clattering after 2000 miles., they were picking up slightly so i removed em and noise gone.

So i guess its just a case of filing them off smooth with the rest of the skirt,,, am i correct?
