i only ask as im gonna tart the road bike up and dont want to go to the expense ofa paint job this year. so im gonna have a go at vinyl "carbon fibre" wrapping the panels. yes all of them. i dont envisage many problems with the rest of the panels but the tank could be a whole world of trouble, lol.

there was a chap on here somewhere useing the wrap a month or 2 ago on bits of his bike and it looked very neat, but a tank would be a challenge i think if it was all curvy, good luck and would love to see a photo of the tank, ken

That would look a bit like this then? Not my bike i hasten to add (wish it was) nor my work. I believe the side panels and tail piece are 100% carbon fibre (no wrapping) and the tank is wrapped in real carbon fibre (not vinyl). Looks the nuts.

How do, it may have been me for the carbon wrapping i did the rad guard, side frame infills anf number plate holder etc the thought of a tank would worry me in 1 piece but if you did the top and 2 Sides seperately and carefully you should come up with a neat job. My work is in the rebuilds section Rd 350 f2 full nut and bolt rebuild....good luck and be sure to post the pics

the only problem is if you get fuel on the wrap it will kill it

Could always give it a fuel resistant clear coat.... personally I think it would be VERY difficult

the worst i can do is ruin a 20quid sheet of wrap. i have a method for making templates so gonna make one for the tank, will decide after that if i think it can be done in one peice.mite even have to make some descrete cuts in the vinyl

the cost to have someone do it is crazy. especially when even top quality wrap isnt that expensive. ive paid 20 quid for a sheet that should be big enough to cover a tank,2 side panels, front muddy and tail piece and if im really tight i may be able to stretch it to the nose cone as well.

bonnets are fairly easy, was doing them 5 years ago wen i was working at the panel beaters. the tank is a whole different kettle of fish. bends in all sorts of directions and then reduces in size as you get to the bottom. had one disaterous go at it already. gonna have another go wen i can get at least one more pair of hands to help.
