Sorry if its been asked before but any tips on getting a good seal. I have an ongoing problem and despite new exhaust gaskets fitted, there is still some weeping from the exhaust. Not sure if its just one or both but I have tried a couple of extra pounds of torque (against my better judgement) but to no avail. Is it a common problem? Any advice welcome. Thanks.

OK Its a simple job to fix but does take some doing . You need to clean down the exhorst topt and flange down with thinners . totaly clean and grees free then put plenty of instent gasket on the gasket then on the other side then fit the pipe but only tighten it down a little give it an houre or 2 to go of then tighten it down you should have a good seal doing this . there is some special exhourst cement you can get as well .

Yes, it is a common problem.
I use 2 copper gaskets per exhaust with some silicone sealant.
1 gasket sits in the barrel and the other sits in the exhaust. Helps reduce vibration as well.

I had to use two ring gaskets on mine on one side as it wouldn't tighten up. Also use the paper gaskets on the flange. Haven't got many miles on it since fitting, but seems ok so far. As Norbo says, the mating faces need to be clean. Should really need to apply any goo on anything with a gasket.

Bend a wire coat hanger into a loop and fit in the exhaust flange where it butts against the rear of the header.
