I don't want to go to the expense of a new loom so can anybody advise me on the best way of cleaning years of grottyness from it, I have seen kits with all the connectors, are they any good and how hard is it to swap them all over, i am concerned i may do more harm then good on such an old loom

Ultra-sonic cleaner for the plugs, clean them beautifully, inside & out! Rest of the harness, any degreaser on a rag.Altho I re-taped mine, using a sealing latex tape, still strong as & flexible but seals up the wiring alot better.

A quick clean with WD to remove the oil
Put it in a pillow case and then in the washing machine on a cool wash.
Brings them up like new.
RDnuts from the Aircooled forum told me about thid, Inwas a bit worried at first but it really works well.
I have 3 spare RD400C looms here now that I collected and there all like new.

I was going to suggest that as a joke before I read down. I never would have thought it. I guess you don't put it on a spin cycle!

Wd works well and if you want to re tape dont use electrical tape,it goes sticky after a while use maplins self amalgamating tape on a roll, about £8 a roll.and if you need to remove any connectors there is a key / connector thing on ebay( like a little ninja star!!!!,im just working through mine at the moment.
