It's been on there for a while so I'd say it's way overpriced. I think 4.5k is nearer the mark.

I've watched a few (out of interest only) and ~£5K seems closer to the mark. Seems to be as many RZs than RDs around and prices seem similar from what I've seen. The dealers have the buying power to snap up alot of the private sales on rare bikes and then control the supply (and prices) . My advice would be to look at completed listings on eBay to see what goes for what, take a friend to stop go going gooey and daft when you see it, check it throughly (condition, long MOT service history and recent service) then make an offer much lower than the asking price (if you still want it). Set yourself a limit & stick to it. Stan Stephen tuned engine may not be a positive (nothing against Stan) but generally tuned bikes need to be set up well to run smoothly everywhere. If it'd had it done. I'd want to see dyno figures before & after. I thoguht back in the day the RD500s were less popular than RGs because "... they were virtucally untunable..." my memory of a PB article some yrs ago..

i know the one you are on about and it LOOKS a lovely bike, but £7500 is way to much imo!regardless of whats been done.like phil sez,£5000-£5500 is about right.it does LOOK nice bike though.good luck m8,i had 3 ov them and all were great bikes, just make sure the carbs are in tune, and no rumbling or knockings.atb.

yes that is steel, the ally one has bigger spars, not a problem being a german import,as long as theres a stash of reciepts and proper registration papers.but i would seriously barrter them down on price,it would have to be fsh,low miles and documented history for that cash, but i have seen restored ones in usa go for 20,000 dollars!!!!!!

it will say on the v5c when it was brought into uk.have a chat with the seller, and get a feeling on how much he will move on price,he might not want to budge, but you really need to see the bike, hear the mota, see the condition of discs, calipers, suspension, its a lot of cash and the last thing you want is to buy a lemon!!!!!it might look the biz,but looks aint everything!!!!!if your prepared to pay £7000 for it,you need to make sure its a good un,

looks really good but have to agree i think it is overpriced, we are in a recession unfortunately and the price of these has come down, if you are close enough go have a look at it and take cash, hard to refuse an offer when you can see all those lovely 20 pound notes

if you want a good 500 you have to be prepared to travel, luckily i got my 4l0, 60 miles away and my powervalve was 100 miles away but he was working near me and put it in a van and came to see me but would definitely travel for right bike

I would say it looks minty, and I've also bought several parts off the seller, (and they've all be in great condition) so would 'assume' the bikes good as well, BUT it's £7000+, there's a chance the engine will need looking at soon (rumours of 20,000m before a rebuild required) and this could come to £2000, including 2 crank rebuilds, pistons and rings etc) Overpriced in my opinion, but if you have the money, were only here once For that sort of £££'s you really need to see it in the flesh.
