Hi all todays done my bloody head in,ok hope you can help. 1st i have a rd125lc 2hk (none working power valve) ,the guy who had it before said that he rebuilt it full (lol not)first removed barrel and it had a new piston and rings but also had a gouge in the barrel (btw why do some say this is common and what causes it as it the same gouge in same places?)anyway apart from that we checked the conrod for play, nothing up and down but side to side it was bad far more than the allowance,on the conrod it says 1GU and the little end bearing was bigger than the ones on my mk1 and mk2 bikes,i thought the bottom ends on all rd125lc was the same,so on this matter can i replace the full crank and conrod in my 2hk with one from a mk1/2 that i have had rebuilt? Also would you have the barrel rebored to get rid of the gouge,as it looks like the guy before just replaced the piston and rings and left it as it is. 2nd just what is acceptable for smoke on a 2 stroke bike, when revving what amount of smoke should be comming out,as also today we started a fully rebuilt engine in a mk1 fresh rebore/piston/rings the lot but i thought the smoke was alot. Sorry but as i say one of those days when nothing went right, and a day when you wished you had a dog(SO YOU COULD HAVE KICKED IT UP ITS ARSE) Any help guys would be great.

con rod longer on ypvs crank so mk1/2 crank not fit crank webs are same but rods longer.as for bore how deep is score if not too deep maybe you can hone it out.. as for smoke on fresh built engine would have been built with lots of fresh 2 stroke oil and prob had oil pump set rich for running engine in. will clear out alot after a good run up the road.

Cheers mate, great advice i will get back to it tomorrow.
So will a old type tzr125 YPVS crank and conrod work?
And on the issue of side movement of the conrod if its ,say double what is the requirment, would you still not bother changing it if the up and down movement is spot on.If it was left what problems could happen ?
And as you say the oil pump set rich, im a nooby on these and the manual for setting oil pump is a bit hard to understand,is there a something in simple terms?
cheers ;D

if the rod is good in the ypvs crank and you have a good mk1 crank rebuild a good one out of the two or better still buy a bigend bearing thrust washers and two main bearings job done mate there is a post on here about oil pump settings good luck mate

so at the min its 1mm oversize you can get good japan made pistons up to 2mm oversize so you got four more rebores left in that cylinder
