hi all what type of gearbox oil are you using, and where from?? is it mineral?(old school!!!)

yes thats right, omly had lc since winter, been rebuilding it, i run my two kettles on 20/50 so chucked some in to try lc, but know its too think etc as clutch drags

ive put 10/50 in mine.works well and quietens the rumbly box aswell ;D ;D

cheers mate will give it a go!! got mot friday cant wait to ride it !!! han a gt750 for ages also got a aircooled 250, but never owned an lc till now... thanks for your help

any light semi gear oil will do m8,as long as its new!!

I think any 4 stroke bike oil is fine for a 2 stroke gearbox. I'll be putting semi-syn 10W40 in my YPVS, because I have half a can left over from my FZR600.
I don't recall there being specific gearbox oils available in the 80s, but there seems to be plenty of options now

GL4 gear oil (it's Posi lock clutch pack 'safe) in 75 ~ weight . Roughly same weight/viscosity as 10/40 Yamalube, which is IMO the worst oil to pour into the trans of these things.
