Need help please...
I intend using a set of Wiseco Pistons in my RD350LC 4L0-01 model [non YPVS].
I understand that cast pistons require 60 to 65 micron clearance??? Since Wisecos are forged ones, what should be the clearance I should keep?

An ART piston is a genuine Yamaha piston.

how much?what size? is it for ypvs.ah,doesnt matter,i just seen how much it is The piston and rings alone would be £187 from Yamaha. That price is for a kit with circlips and gudgeon pin.

then that is a good price your asking, but that is stupid money yamaha ask for it,i would rather use mitaka ones, they are good enough.

i would stay clear of wiscos as there have been problems with the wrist pin coming out of them!!!!!i dont know of the clearance sorry. What a load of tosh lol. I use hundreds of Wiseco pistons and never had the wrist pin come out. The only reason one would come out is because the retaining clip is not installed correctly. 350=.076mm 250=.06mm

Thanks Slinger.
Why is there a difference between LC350 and LC250 clearances for Wisecos?
At 0.76mm, will there be a clatter? Does it have to be run-in? If yes, then, what is the running-in speed and distance?

its not a load of tosh at all....slinger,i dont talk tosh, just facts!!!!and the facts are that wisecos have had REPORTS of gudgeon pins coming out of there piston kits.maybe you aint heard of it over the pond m8,get facts before you condem it to....tosh!!!!,are you employed by a wiseco dealer by the way? ??

Thanks Slinger. Why is there a difference between LC350 and LC250 clearances for Wisecos? At 0.76mm, will there be a clatter? Does it have to be run-in? If yes, then, what is the running-in speed and distance? Slinger was involved in my ypvs engine build and knows his stuff. He supplied me with wisecos and I have had no problems although not done a lot of miles. I would think the larger clearance on the 350 is down to the larger diameter and that it will expand more. As for clatter there is some noise when cold but nothing when warmed ( as you would expect once they have expanded ) It is still quieter than my old engine which ran fine with cast pistons. As for running in I was advised to do some heat cycles followed by some short runs holding it at 6k then allowing to completely cool. I did 6 15 mile runs which took it to around 90 miles then thrashed it. Now been thrashing it for over 100 miles with no issues. Steve Steve

if he knows his stuff mlc,he should know about the problem with wiseco kits?but, then he supplies them!! I am a Wiseco dealer from ATV,dirt bikes, road bikes, race bikes and marine engines. I've not been told by Wisceo or even heard of this "problem" with the wrist pins falling out. Until I see it or am informed by Wiseco it's just tosh. Just like they seize all the time.

i thought you were a dealer!!!!!!LOL .a seizure can happen to any piston, not just wisecos!!!!but there have been reports of these pistons throwing there pins out,its not bullshit m8,i wouldnt say it for the sake of it.i agree that until wiseco say otherwise, then you got no reason to beleive this, but that does not mean it isnt true!!!!.but then would they say????maybe its crap circlips?i replied to a question, and said what i knew, its up to the person whether they take on board that info. regards

I'm a dealer of many makes of pistons so I don't get the "dealer" thing. Cast pistons have there place just like forged and all have thier problems. What do you want, me to tell you about all the skirts that have bust of cast pistons.
It's just internet talk, maybe you could post the evidence of all these wrist pins falling out and who built the engine?

If yes, then, what is the running-in speed and distance? Expansion rate between the two sizes, 250 smaller so don't expend as much as the larger 350 piston. You could go into the BMEP of the engine to determine the piston clearance, but what the fook do I know lol.
