I got this reply back this morning
Hi, im not offended listing/selling cost ebay £2.00 paypal fees minimum charge £1.60 Royal Mail Recorded a must to many rogues, £2.65 Jiffy Bag 50 pence take that from £15.99 and it dont leave alot, who's taking the piss because it isn't me. To be honest I have broke 20 250/350 LC's this year 15 have totally gone now as what was left out of those I just sold each item as a job lot, I have 5 left which are now all dissmantled which I have started to list now once gone thats it end of an era, so if you and your colegues are trying to make a living out of breaking Elsies my advice to you is to move on as that era has finished, thanks for the chat good luck for the future and my very best regards.

OK, so the guy has a point about high postage costs (and they are high and increasing btw), but why hide it in the cost of the item? Sorry, but at 15.99 for that 2.50 part he was taking the piss, and to be fair he has taken note and reduced it despite what he implied in his reply to Norbo.
There is probably some very complex and arsey sounding philosophical term for what's happening here - some guys with the time and inclination dismantle what have become highly collectable/desirable bikes and then sell all of the parts down to the last nut, washer and bolt, and scatter them literally to the highest bidder only for someone else to buy all the nuts, bolts and washers at a premium in order to reassemble it. His advice to move on as that era has finished does have some weight but ironically only because there are a finite amount of bikes out there that can be dismantled and their often shagged innards whored off.
Entreprenurial? Hmmm. The only way to stop some of the mad prices is for people to decide not to pay them, and understand how evil bay actually works, i.e. overall the evil-bay elevates prices.
If modern bikes weren't so flippin soulless there wouldn't be the same problem. IMO.
My strategy is to always check with the Yam main dealer first, and only use ebay as a last resort.

well i kmnow nothing aboy E bay costs as i dont use it . but its a large stamp 80p and and an envelope coved in tape 10p i think it can be posted for £1 and its still a new still in the bag part from me posted at £3.50 .
i understand his points but its a speedo guide. i have about 30 second hand ones ill do them to him for £1 each and £3 post for the l;ot and see if he takes up the offer he could make a fortune i think .

If i may, what i think is happening here is artificial supply and demand and lets be honest blatant profiteering. I have just received another bag of goodies from Norbo this morning, (thanks Mate) and the guy charged £4 postage which i am sure is at cost or possibly over (ie, Norbo making a loss) non of this £10/15 bollocks
It is obvious that Norbo is just providing a very good service to fellow enthusiasts and taking pleasure from seeing nicely restored/hybrid lc on the road and for that we should all thank him
so good on ya mate, lets hope people will turn to you as opposed to chancing ebay and getting stung for worn out parts and ridiculous postage.

Indeed. I'll be asking Norbo first from now on. Also btw buying gen Yam costs zero postage if you pick up from the shop, so for stuff that's ordered and come from storage in Holland etc you haven't paid a penny.
Case in point, I need new clock casings cos mine are road rashed. ~£100 for the pair gen Yam, or the evil-bay has a scattering of pretty manky looking ones for approx the same price. And let's not go into the cost of a headlamp rim. FFS.
