So i have 2 rev counters, one with good plastic shell but no glass, the other with the glass intact but cracked and broken plastic shell, so obviously i want to build one good one out of the 2 , how do i get the glass and metal surround off without making it all useless lol ? Also got this set of clock housings off the bay for a good price , only issue being the scuff on the idiot lights , whats the best way to remove the scuff and restore it to its former glory ? Any help greatly appreciated

to remove the glaas, you will need a fine flat blade screwdriver and bend the rear of the metal bezal/outer ring off.The glass will then come out !!

use a screwdriver to lift the folded metal up 1mm at a time and dont rush it, i then used a press to recrimp it back down with the face of the clock on a rubber mat, as for the mark five mins with metalic t cut and all should be good.

There was a step by step guide to retoring clocks in last month's practical sports bikes. Well worth a look.

So , i'm still having trouble getting the metal band off, i've tried the technique from practical sportsbike (issue 18 Apr 2012 if anyone is trying to find it) and all the ring is doing is flexing and returning not lifting at all, tried half a dozen different size and shape screwdrivers and no dice, obviously i don' want to damage the ring, think i might be being a little too delicate with it tho lol , any more tips ?

one problem i found was the white plastic housing kept bending instead of the black metal ring which as far as im concerned isnt that soft, keep mucking around with it, i used 2 screw drivers myself, 1 twisting and the other as a base for it, but i have to say they are much easier to bend back,

finally got it off today, a few scrapped knuckles and swear words were required but it finally released, now to clean everything up and respray the ring
On a related note, can anyone provide a pic and wire length for the 3 wires attached to the rev counter please ? both mine had thrm cut off so I'm going to need to build a replacement loom for that bit before i put it all back together
