Guys ive just had to have an exhaust stud replaced so the 350LC has been off the road for 2-3months in that time i squirted 2T down the bores and covered the exhausts up (winter ay up), never started it up just spun the engine over by hand now and again but now ive started it up it runs and sounds like a bag of shit prior to laying it up it had a long trip from Uttoxeter to Northampton on major roads which it didn't like one bit now im wondering that this run has f**ked it up has some thing similer happen'ed to anyone else on here? looks like a top end strip will be needed at the very least

long runs find out your oil feed probs.check your oil pump settings mine had a 250 drive with a 350 pump.fooke the engine you need to check the shims in the pump.ive gone from no oil use for 1 tank of fuel.to 1 litre of 2 stroke to 3 tanks of fuel

No just smokes like normal its just when you rev it above 3-4k when in neutral sounds crap more like a loud resonating noise more than anything at tick over sounds normal before i set off on the long drive home engine was as sweet as a nut, as said i need to look at pump settings etc! bikes a converted 250 to 375cc (Fahron conversion) with PV carbs im going to change the plugs and strip the carbs as she seems to come to life a lot more when the chokes on? what i was trying to get at earlier was that i always reckon 2-strokes dont like prolonged motorway fast runs i dont think there ever happy sitting at high speeds for any length of time? the other thing ive noticed is that the ends of my LC's baffles are always dry instead of oily as on my Kawasaki triples don't know if all LC's are like this?

Let us know how you get on after checking the pump. As mars says, might still have a 250 pump on it.

Will do, funny that i was having a conversation today with Keith from Motolink (Yamaha) whos had years of experiance with Yamaha 2-stroke twins and he reckons that with the current crop of premium injector 2-stroke oils there should be no need to upgrade the oil pump on a converted 250LC as todays oils are so good compared to the shite 2T oils that were avalible back in the day?

should be a yellow paint mark on the pump for a 350.i wouldnt trust that tho take the pump off.and check the pump shaft.post a pic on here and can tell one way or another 7 threads for a 250 and a coarser 5 threads for the 350

Just a thought,
Are you sure one of the exhausts is not touching the frame or anything, as this can make the motor feel/sound rough.
