Just get some quotes from wherever you can. I use e bike as mine is modded and they don't want to know much but as online only have heard of probs dealing with them when it comes to claims.
If you put it on a classic policy you should be fine as you can't claim NCD on them.

Interesting question this one, and although i'm still a long way off needing insurance i have wondered about this.
Firstly does no claims discount expire? I had around four years NCD when i last held a policy, but haven't had a policy for over ten years now. When i finish my bike will i be able to use this NCD or not?
Secondly people who have done rebuilds and have spent a few quid (in case the wife reads this (although we all know i actually mean a few thousand quid)) do you tell your insurers the full extent of your spending and the value that you put on your bike (not to mention the full extent of any modifications you may have done) or do you go for a cheap policy and keep shtum?!
sorry for hijacking your thread a bit Speedy.

Ebike insure hybrids & they are pretty cheap too but a bloody nightmare to deal with the only way you can actually talk to someone is through premium rate lines. After you get your policy they inform you they want copys of both parts of your licence & proof of NCD by email or they will cancell your policy & keep most of your money Be warned when you send copys of your documents use the email format on your camera or reduce the size of your photos or ebike's server rejects them & you will end up with no insurance or cover, I had to use the premium rate lines to sort it out in the end, w#*#ers

Footman James for me, bike not standard, gave them all the information of the upgrades over the phone. Went for there classic policy with agreed valuation, just a little under £160. Always able to speak to someone english on the other end of the phone. Never had to claim, so not to sure how they are when it comes to that

Compare the meerkat mate. That's what we do,you'll be absolutely amazed at the differences. . . . .and we've now got 3 meerkat toys.

I used Footman James and if it's over 15 years old it's classed as a classic and your no claims discount makes no difference anyway. Regards Jess

Found getting insurance for the hybrid this year an absolute nightmare.....Had to go for a non-classic policy eventually after having my bikes insured on classic policy for years with CN all of a sudden the goalposts changed.....No brick garage....No classic policy....Eventually went with Footman James who were very easy to deal with and knew their bikes....

in my experience ebike are cheapest & easiest to sort a hybrid out (never had to claim or send them paperwork though) but CN are the only ones to offer foreign breakdown on classics.
A mates T120 broke a piston in the South of France, CN were excellent at rescuing him and repatriating the bike. Worth considering if you're off abroad.

Theres no real answer to 'The best place to get your YPVS insured' as there are a lot of factors that can influence the answer.
Where do you live. License details (points/bans) Wheres the bike kept. Your bike security. Is the bike modified. Mileage you do. How much Policy Excess you want to pay.
Sure theres more.
You only find out if your insurance is any good when you make a claim.

Who would you use if you want to insure more than one bike E bike will insure more than one bike. Had my 2 hybrids on a policy at £137 then bought a 96 blade and they didn't want anything to add it to the policy. Did have to speak to them once about a medical condition so simply mailed and got an answer in a couple of ours with a contact number so easily sorted. I only insure TPFT as it's not as if they are going to take it away and repair it, anything other than a light off would write it off so I'll just take the money and keep the bike to re build. Steve

Ive used carol nash and footman james over the years, but nothing beats the ease of Devitt www.devittinsurance.com/I change bikes quite often which they sort no problem, although is an admin charge, must do i think. Got the RD400,350R and a Yam scooter for £130 fully comp this year, did go up from £120 last year though

Peter james insurance.
I dont reckon you will beat there price, they were £150 cheaper than Carole Nash and I was with them for 10 years.
Call 0121 506 6018 and ask for Trevor Keefe
You have nothing to lose.

I use Bennetts and had no problems this year lost my docs for a month last year when I tried to prove my NCD but were fine after they found it, probably half my fault as they sent me two requests for confirmation of NCD and licence details and I sent the all back in one per-paid envelope.
As for ebike I had a bad experience with them they ripped my off for over a £100 admin fee when I declared a speeding conviction of three points which was four year and ten months old, I put the wrong month on the form I was one month out, when I had to send my licence details for proof they caught me, the points didn't affect the premium but the still charged, I tried cancelling but this cost more, it is all done by email as it is difficult to phone them as they don't advertise phone numbers
I will never use them again no matter how cheap they are, contacting them is a nightmare

i use hastings direct, for my situation they come up the cheapest. 1500 miles per year bike kept in locked garage but no alarm (im sure my dog would be enough of a deterrant). £1500 value i was 29 years old with 3 points for speeding last year and paid £59 for the year (through compare the meercats). this year i will be 30 with a clean licence again so hopfuly similar price.
if only car insurance was as cheap...............i pay £400ish for a old vauxhall vectra worth scrap value that i drive like a grandad as all the throttle pedal seems to do is make it uses more fuel.

Just had my renewal from Footman James, gone up around £50 to over £180,,,,,,,, Sod that, I may not even bother insuring this year as I have not got much time to ride..... I may phone them up an ask why, I got endless no claims and starting to go Grey and a licence from when they used to come in Cornflake packets.
Was chatting to someone who ( word of mouth here ) that they have been taken over, sure he said by Aviva or something like that,,,, could just be a rumour though.
Anyone know if Peter James is doing better deals than Footman James?

Anyone know if Peter James is doing better deals than Footman James? The reason I suggested using Peter James was after receiving my renewal from Footman James which was about £160 for 2 bikes I phoned Peter James & got a quote for £96 for the same cover. Guess who got my custom OEB
