I use Nitromorse it takes ages and a real hassle but it can be done. Some powdercoaters have a did they singa wheel in to remove the old stuff then they blast the wheel .

I've been using Nitromorse on my engine cases and getting know where BUT when I used it on my frame it seem to work, maybe my frame has been painted before not sure.
I'll probably be trying a bit on some wheels soon as I may just do a polish & powder coat.

Nitromorse is a lot weaker than it used to be (despite what it says on the tin) due to European legislation.

I would do a small test section first as I was under the impression that the powder coaters tend to blast the wheels to rough them up so the powder coating adhere better. You could end up in a position where it would be very hard the polish up the wheels rims after the coating has been removed. Don't want to put you off, just be wary before coating the whole wheel in nitro morse to find you have replaced one issue with another. Best do a little test section around the hub to see what the surface looks like underneath. If too bad, you can just touch up with a bit of paint and no one would notice it so much.

Just take it to your powder coaters, let them deal with stripping it and let them do the work

There is then postage etc, jobs like this you rely need to get done local or do yourself. for the cost I may just get myself setup with the jet wash and wet blasting.
