Spot on, 0.9 bar equates to 13psi, could a faulty cap mean top hose hot, bottom hose stays cold, reservoir tank fills up too, temp gauge goes to near red.

Something else is wrong. Are you saying that the rad cap allows the coolant to overflow in the expansion tank ? Sounds more like a head gasket issue.

Yes coolant going back to expansion tank. Head gasket done, new impela/water pump, checked no thermostat in there, flushed radiator, all flowing freely. Maybe its ok but seams hot to me.

Try a small amount of rad weld. You will only need about 15mls. Try it and let us know how you get on. However, your problem seems like a leak from the combustion chamber to the coolant passage(s). Worth a try though. You may end up having to re-do the head gasket again.

It was going to red but since I changed coolant at weekend after checking for thermostat it goes to 3 quarters, I've not had the bike long, chap before changed head gasket / new water pump to try n sort, I bought knowing temp goes high but thought this be easy to sort, helped to knock price down a bit. Seams strange to me that ticking over with RAD CAP OF after re-filling to get air out the top and bottom hose warm at same rate, when I go ride top hose gets hot and bottom is cold, maybe Luke warm.

Can you start it up from cold with the rad cap off and make sure your not getting any bubbles in the top of the rad. If so sounds like headgasket. Most car garages have a tool that fits in the top of the rad that is filled with a coloured liquid and the liquid changes colour if any combustion gasses are getting into the coolant system. The idea of the expansion tank is as the coolant in the rad heats up and expands it blows out any excess through the rad cap and into the expansion tank. Then when the engine is stopped, the coolant in the rad cools down which creates a vacuum in the rad which draws coolant from the expansion tank back into the rad via the rad cap.

.Didn't try rad weld no, thought I would do gasket first because I knew it was a patented one that was fitted. The barrels and head all looked OK, seams odd why goes all the way to red then cools a little, needle about 3 quareters, could i have air locks in there.

i think its the temp gauge!!!!!although the lc mota gets hot, they run much cooler than, say,a valve,so go for a run and when the needle goes up into red, check the barrels/head,it shouldbe obviously hot,but not scalding,if its not REALLY hot,its the temp gauge.my m8 had a faulty one before.
