I have just started rebuilding the bottom end of my YPVS. Going to change all the bearings seals etc. Is it false economy not to do the big ends even though they appear fine ? If I go down this route should I replace the conrod as well. And one last question do the RD 500 big ends drop straight in? Thanks

No reason to change the big ends for the sake of it if they are within tolerance. If you are in doubt, best bet would be to send the crank to someone to be checked, they will then advise you what's required. I don't know if 500 bearings would fit, even if they did remember that the 500 has 2 cranks so each bearing and rod are only worked by a single 125cc piston so pretty pointless in a 350! A good 350 YPVS crank is pretty tough if it's looked after, although there are uprated big ends available if you look around (Banshee stuff is the same).

I hear what you are saying, but I'm also thinking seen as I do everything else. May as well??? rd500 bearings is mentioned on the lc crazy tuning page?? Wasn't there someone on here recently offering crank rebuilds at a very good price. I can't find the thread now

Why would you change the big end and not the con rod with it? Now that really would be pointless I seen on stan stevens web site crank rebuilds £250

Personally if the motor is stripped that far and you are doing work to the crank then I'd replace everything.
Standard crank fine unless going for stupid horses and high revs.
Norbo advertises all new cranks for £220 exchange
