Hello a new member her! I have recently taken ownership of a lovely 1984 Mk1 LC but it is an A12 and therefore still restricted.
The air box and carbs are standard but it does have a Micron. At present it will only rev to about 6.5K in any gear and I get a top speed of about 75Mph.
I didn't get the bike to go fast on (I have an RSV for that) but I would like to derestrict if possible. My questions are:
1: It it worth doing, will it be more prone to problems if it i done? 2: Is there an easy way for me to do the work or is it best to get a professional on the job?
Many Thanks
Steve

hi.as far as i know the restrictions are in the carb and exhaust. as u have a micron thats the exhaust dealt with You will need to get a 10W 00 carb if you want full power. It wouldnt be any more unreliable doing this but it should rev past 6.5k easily with either carb. Have you cleaned the carb out and checked all jets and settings

sounds likes it may be worth checking the numbers on the barrell , as it should have 10w on the side of the casting however if it has 10v on it that will be your problem as its for a dt 125 and they dont rev hard like the rd, but the head will be a 10v number so dont worry about that. hope it makes sense to you.

sounds to me like they have just stuck a micron on and thats it ,needs more air and fuel i would fit a k&n filter and up the main jet by 10% also stick a new plug in ,then check running colour of plug .

clean and put a 210 main jet in dont put a k/n in more problems then worth make sure the choke circuit is cleaned out. turn the idle screw to about 1 turn then go from there if it revs up then do a plug chop to see how your burning

First Welcome to the site. Looks like a real nice tidy looking bike as well .
Id look as all ready menshoned to so if you have a DT top end for starters . Look at what jet you have in 210as jack up all rays said is a good jet for your set up . See what sprockets you have fitted as well . Most 125's are over sized and need gowing down on the front by 1 took to make them rev in top gear .

Just checked the top-end and yes it is a 10V. I was planning to get the pistons done at the end of the year (The bike starts, runs and rides really well so I want to use it a bit) so will have to find a 10W barrel and get the lot done together. Like I said I am not really that bothered about the speed but it would be nice to get the engine running as sweet as possible.
Thanks for the advice and if anyone can recommend a good engine man near Newcastle then let me know.
Cheers Steve

was looking at the pic of your bike and it has the wrong pipe on it yes its a micron but its not for a 125lc its for a different bike could be your problem as well as the fact you have a dt cylinder on there if you mean newcastle on tyne go to ard racing on westgate rd they are top blokes in there will sort you out.
