I thought I would post a pic (taken this year at th A/C rally) of one of my builds which I completed in 1996 ;D
I got the bike off a local guy who rode it about for a few years before he decided it was time for its first re bore which he done...... but somehow never got around to putting it back on the road for the next nine years, in that time it sat outside his kitchen window uncovered and exposed to all the elements!
When I eventually persuaded him to sell it to me for £120 (his asking price) I dragged it to my van and took it away
It was in such a mess I decided to build a one off rather than restore as all the parts I needed were cheaper to upgrade than to replace with std parts and IMO there was not a 'proper' special in the A/C club at that time
To cut a long story short all the work was completed by my self (in a rented council garage 2 miles from my house with a generator for electricity) with engineering help from my late best friend BIDDY, from what I can remember I was one of the first to install RGV/GSXR suspension, brakes & wheels and the first to have an RD400 on the Streetfighter stand at the NEC for two weeks ;D ;D ;D
It drew a lot of attention by all the usual magazines back in its day and was shown at Stafford show too, the only downside was that the A/C club actually banned me from entering their annual show/rally to apparently "give all the rest a chance" !!
So as promised to the A/C boys 10 years later (last year) I put her back on the road and took it back to the rally to a much friendlier bunch of new A/C members and had a fantastic rally, Cheers guys
As they say All's well that ends well
