gday, being new to 2 strokes, how often do you take out your baffles and clean? also do many use the baffle wrapping stuff? ive pulled 2 lots of baffles out and neither pair had any packing stuff around them, so any pros and cons using it or not,is it an enviromental thing or do they actually help the bike,? thanks again

Hi Ken, I have been lead to believe the wadding on the standard baffles was only there to produce a little more back pressure so the bike was a bit more user friendly at low revs during the running in period. There is no issue with not running the wadding after this. I have never used it. I clean the baffles once per season 1000~1500 miles but there is never much on them (with the modern oils we have today), unless you are a Castor oil addict. HTH.

Around the time I bought my New Suzuki GT750, it was reported in the Motorcycling Press that the wadding fitted to baffles was for American Regs, to stop any chance of sparks coming out of exhausts, and were Not needed in the UK.
I took mine out, and the exhaust was slightly louder but it had no detrimental effect on the running of the bike.
