Hi,
I've taken the head off my siezed 1ua to find that the head looks fine and there are no holes in pistons
The Haynes manual says that you can take the barrells off with the engine in the frame but I can't see how I can do this as 1. the two screws holding the powervalve together have been changed for allen bolts and my allen keys (correct size) are spinning in the bolt. It's also difficult to get any purchase on them due to where thet are and size/shape of allen keys.
2. The bolts holding the head down seem to have been tightened by conan the barbarian. I can get the ones off that are easily accessible but the ones near the exhaust ports seem pretty stuck and there's not much room to get a swing at a hamme on a spanner.
So, do I need to remove the engine and if I do, is this likely to help?
Also, how do I torque the bolts back up on the head? It doesn't look possible to get a socket onto the head bolts due to the shape of the head in most places. If I can't torque them, how much force do I need to use to put them back on (if I ever get 'em off!)?
I can see the rings on the pistons and they look to be either missing or fused into the piston. If missing I'll need to remove the engine anyway and check out the crank case I guess but if just fused in, has anybody got any ideas what is likely to have caused the seizure?
I'm running a zeel ignition system with dyna coils and am wondering if the timing on the zeel might have caused it, or does it sounds like an oil pump issue? If the latter, any tips on testing the oil pump?
Thanks for your thoughts.
Paul
