you know when you buy a new chain its got all the manufacturers goo on it are you supposed to remove it or just apply chain lube on top

I have always cleaned it off. Then they get the castrol racing chain lube treatment.

depends what conditions you ride in and miles etc i normally wipe the excess off then run it for a while then when i think i need to lube it on goes the PJ1 Blue Label

I use dry chain lube its worth a try no mess!

O-rings don' like most de-greasers (inlcuding petrol/ brake cleaner). If you want to run dry lube, it's probabaly worth using a proper chain cleaner to get the waxy stuff off first.
