Well i figured i should best make a project thread on here ;D it's not much of a project at the moment, more a collection of bits, and a place to discuss plans!
So i have slowly, since july, amassed a pile of ypvs bits mainly through ebay! infact i have almost a complete bike (in a box)
so the rules for crmc are pretty straight forward...post classic clubman 2:
period forks up to 42mm, period wheels no smaller than 17", any internal work on the engine, but no external modding, and period look! that's the general gist of it.
Plans so far when i return to the uk so far is to get the chassis on it's legs. the swinging arm is being sent away for powdercoating by my dad, so that's all taken care of. For now it'll be a standard shock, but the forks will be fitted with hagon progressive springs, just to help them out a bit! std ypvs wheels, Avon road rider tyres, and possibly fzr 4 pot calipers!
few bit pics..
The frame is a late 1wx Hungarian import, so i beleive it was an F2! i've got the original log book too!
bought a nice smashed in tank for £20. rust free, just needs a paint and the 2 dents pulled out!
this was just to see what the LC race seat would look like on the ypvs....not quite sure on it, but looking at having a ragged edge racing ypvs seat made!!
after I will start the engine work. atm i have a complete engine in bits, which has only set me back £200!! i bought the bottom end off of a user on here, (possibly Andy?) a set of barrels off a mate for 50, and bought a complete pv system, bar electrics, for £60 off ebay the other day.
at first i'll just have the crank and cylinders redone (courtsey Grampian Motors) and possibly the head skimmed/o ringed! then i'll see after that in terms of tuning the bugger. couple ideas on the cards, but depends on budget!!! I currently have a set of Allspeed exhausts, so can't go too mad on the tuning unless i want to buy new spannies!! they need a serious clean though! lol
bodywork will be the last thing......
i'm debating between the ragged edge racing TZ-ST fairing, as seen on Wayne Bond's yamaha Ypvs as below, or naked, or honda rs250 (could fit with modding) or a tzr 250 fairing (almost a straight fit) thoughts??
for design, i'd quite like the yamaha Anniversary scheme as seen in motogp this year!!
thoughts/comments/banter/contributions please
tah.
