Hi, I have read quite a bit on here about good quality chains. I remember my first LC had an endless chain, but the chain on my LC now has what looks like a standard duty chain with a split link. I don't tend to use full throttle much at all so the question is; Should I go for a better quality set up or is the split link chain easily upto the job, thanks.

Just becourse a chain comes with a split link doesnt meen its not a good chain . i personaly fined them better for fitting and working on later on if i can just remove the link and take the chain of. All the 530 lc chains i do except the cheepest one only come with the endles link and not a split link so get the split link in seporatley and just pop them in the box .
However all ypvs chains witch are 520 come with a split link no matter what make they are even the most expensive.

Thanks for the info Guy's. I look after my chains and take them off for a full clean twice a year (about 500 miles or so ) so I'll stay with the chain I've got for now and see how it goes. Cheers.

I always fit the Renthal gold O ring chains & use the split link as it's far more convenient & have never had a problem ;D

Good chains are so much better than in the 1980s. I always replace the 530 chain and sprockets with 520.
