Hi All, Are ultra sonic cleaners any good, or are they just a waste of time. I have heard of people using them for cleaning carbs etc, but have never seen any results. Only asking as Lidle have one on offer & for £20 & I thought why not. But then again, what do you expect for £20 www.lidl.co.uk/cps/rde/xchg//lidl_uk/hs.xsl/index_27143.htm?offerdate=&ar2=Any advice greatly appreciated, or if anyone has used one with great results better still !! Regards Paul.

I bought one to give it a go from lidl. I know you pay for what you get but i wanted to see what it was like as other people raved about them. The one at lidl is not that big but may just get a carb in. I put just tap water and a splash of washing up liquid in it with a manky 30 yr old fuel tap stuck it on for 2 lots of 5 mins and it came out a hell of a lot cleaner. Iv now been told to put gunk in it and run it with that, Thats meant to work really well with bike parts but as yet i have not tried it. Dont expect to put something in there and it to come out looking brand new. I will now be looking around for a larger one now iv had a go at it...

I have had my one from maplins for a few years now great for carb internals and little bits.I am off to lidls tomorrow so will treat myself to a new one.On a side note most of my main tool kit is made up of lidl's stuff now and it's good kit i think as it's German made has lasted longer then some of the Halfords Professional stuff i have.

Heres a mbx125 carb, like a two hat i didnt take a picture before(too excited)anyway this was off a bike that was stood in a shed for many years, the old petrol in the bottom of the carb had turned into this soild oil lump and stank, you know what i mean. you have to turn it a bit as the whole carb dosent get the water all around it,it helped as well to loosen the screws.
