Back int' old days, I used to do 10,000 miles a year - all weather. Now, I have to admit I'm a fair weather merchant. Last ride on the LC was two weeks ago and it's positively sulking in the garage and moaning to his GSX-R750 companion about wimp riders etc.
Anyway, what's the best thing to do with LCs over winter? With the Gixxer, I start the engine every week and let it run until the cooling fan kicks in when it's nice and hot. I'm not sure this would work with a 2-stroke and it would get coked up. Should I (a) try get out for a blast as and when there is a blip in the weather or (b) lay it up until the spring? If (b), what precautions/preparations would you do, if any?

Best thing turn off tap and drain carbs (run engine till it dies) and drain tank squirt some GT85 inside tank, remove plugs and squirt a small amount 5ml of 2-t down bores refit plugs, remove battery and charge every 4 weeks, put bike on center stand (if it has one) lower tyre pressures a bit, turn engine over a bit every 4 weeks, spary metal parts (not disc ) with duck oil or GT85, cover with clean sheet pref cotton type that should be it ,best bet would be a dehumidifier in the garage if you can afford to keep it going through the winter

Alot of people use AF50 allover except rubber parts.Its a good anti corrosion agent used on aircraft so should be good.

Alot of people use AF50 allover except rubber parts.Its a good anti corrosion agent used on aircraft so should be good. Yep thats good to! Also forgot to add its a good idea to put zip type plastic bags over the ends of the silencers held on by elastic bands to keep any moisture out

make sure you also slightly over inflate the tyres to avoid flat spots. I always leave the fuel tank full - never had problems with it "going off"

just seen an ad for a "vac bag" - £35. you encase bike and suck air out with your vacuum!

yeah i have one of them. My F2 lived in my shed in one of those for about 1 year.came out of the bag in mint condition as it went in

dishwashers are great for cleaning bke bits - so somebody told me (ahem......)
