Hi, how do people on here go about draining the gearbox oil on the 350 Lc (4LO) ? The drain bolt is very difficult to reach with a spanner or a socket due to the R/H exhaust. I have done it but is there an easier way ? Thanks, Arrow.

Hmm, I have no problems reaching the drain bolt at all. Sure, it's a tiny bit tight there but nowhere near "impossible" imo. Just use an extender and you'll be fine.

You should be able to get a socket and extension in there. If you can't, surely whipping the r/h pipe is no biggie? If you have sprung headers it's only one bolt

Totally sorted. Got this off 'the bay' I am using a non standard drain plug from Halfords (13mm A/F), but these are available in most common sizes. puts the extension bar well away from the R/H exhaust. I like to do regular gearbox oil changes (what ever oil I am using) as it's only 1.5 litres and un-filtered, cheap job and good for the motor. Well worth doing IMO. Attachments:

I agree most people dont bother replacing the oil or plugs from one year to the next . i replace the plugs every year and depending on what miles i do the oil as well .

I change oil, plugs, brake fluids and clean the air filter every year on all my bikes.
brake fluid is so easy to do and its so cheap to buy but makes such a difference.
