Hi all. I've joined the band that have moved across from Alec's. Project Bitsa (4L1 frame, 4L0 engine, the rest who knows...) hasn't moved along, Mortgage, children and a wife constantly facing redundancy stay my hand. I'll hang onto my basketcase just in case tho and limit myself to offering encouragement and support wherever I can. Cheers. Richard.

Welcome,
I'm on both and have noticed it getting a lot quieter over there.
Nice and friendly here.

Ashamed to say I've had it since '94, was a runner (not good tho) stripped it, boxed it, collected a few bits and then packed it away. Once I get nursery fees out of the way.... It'll be the bike I promised myself but missed out on when I was 16. Black powder coated frame, red (the deep metallic red used by Shoei) with 'standard stripes albeit two tone silver, set of spannies, deep braced arm, fork brace etc. plenty of stainless bolts and braided hoses. Engine pretty standard for reliability, might treat myself to the luxury of a rebuild by Stan, he was THE man back in the day. Like I said, it's a bitsa, no point in trying to achieve a concourse show winner, they have their place and I love to see them, it's just that had I actually bought one in '80 I'd have done all this to it anyway!

What colour of green is that f***kin frame? It looks like a cure for a hangover - you know the type that either ends or mends it!!

Ha ha lol. A mate bought it (against my advice!) in '93. It was awful, aftermarket full fairing etc. I think the motivation behind the 'builders' idea was a bike in PB that was reproduced on Alec's forum a few weeks ago. My mate was very new to motorcycling and it wasn't his thing. I begged it for £400 as a runner but changed in circumstances led to it being boxed for 18 years. I have to say this forum feels like Alec's 10 years ago, I've got the bug again and the saving begins (an £800 a month nursery habit is holding me back a bit)! I've got the history from DVLA and it's only travelled about 50 miles from its place of registration
