Hi chaps.il be fitting microns onto bike now Coulpe of questions though. Is this how the flange should be....curved towards port,or should it curve out The reason i ask is that if fitted like this it doesnt leave a lot of space to tighten up onto gasket until flange reaches barrel Also the part which mounts to the copper gasket is smaller in diameter by a bit.is this normal also the actual part of the pipe that slide into this flange has a slight dent so the outer edge is squashed towards inner.Any tips how to bend it back out other than with a screwdriver in there I will add a picture tomoz of what i mean in case u dont get wot i mean ;D And last but no means least the gap for springs is 70mm.im guessing i should get about 57-60mm ones also a link for sumwhere to buy them would be nice plz cheers

Hi Mick, The flange should be flat. I think a gorilla with a socket set owned them before you . It is very common. Mine were like that for my 4L0 and straightened before they were re chromed. Cheers Andrew

Naww It should be flat. Put it on an Anvil or facsimile and beat the thing flat again :-) Only takes a minute or so. Dunno if it's the photo or what , but the Tubular bit seems a bit shorter than the Micron ones I have.

Mellow: Not run into that problem on either of the 2 sets of Microns I own. Can only suggest getting (making?) a pointy round metal implement :-) And using our friend the Big effing Hammer drive it into the pipe thereby reforming that inner tube.. some. I'm thinking that the real issue is the poor fit of these pies using the original rear mount flange that loads that tube .. deforming it. To make MY microns fit centrally in that flange (photo) I cut off the rear mount, shimmed and adjusted the pipe to fit 'perfectly' in the Bike and then modded the mount and rewelded it. Took me all of an afternoons work.. it's a bit fiddly. Pipes are now nice 'n tight to the frame, don't even come close to touching anything and the Pipe slides on the flange with rpm. Exactly like my TZ 350 's did when revved..:-) Dunno What? Micron used as a Jig to build these, as I removed at least an inch in height and shifted the bracket well away from it's factory position. Mentioned this 'fit issue' before but likely all thought I was daft :-)

Think a bit a heat will be required too, heat up, open up slightly with a small pin punch, then as bare suggests, drive flange pipe down with a hammer. Should reform it, so usable. I've got the same pipes, i apply sealant every time i refit them to stop the oil messing up my newly paint motor - best of luck mate.

Hi bare. Il try heating it i think with my heat gun and then whacking it with a pointy instrument as u suggest ;D I believe it got bent in transit by jolly ol postman or got dropped at sum point and thats how it ended up bent with a flat edge I have bolted the decent pipe on (without the copper gasket ) and it all lines up pretty good and slides into the flange tube all squarely. I know they hang lower than standard pipes but i dont fancy cutting the rear bracket and ruining my chrome ;D Cheers for the reply though m8 ps....got any pictures of ur pipes fitted bare?

Good luck with that.... I tried that.. 3 x! Effing Orange 'hi temp' Sillycone Goop turned to oozing Jelly each time. Frustratingly only after a couple of dozen miles too. Couldn't believe it happened, Internet wisdom said it works.. so I tried it again AND again. Threw the Permatex Silicone tube in the trash as result. The goop 'might' be Temp resistant but it sure as hell isn't Hot oil/gasoline resistant.. like every other sillycone product. Now I just wipe a rag over the leakage after each ride, perhapsDumb but it works ! Haven't got any pipe install photos just the piccies of my Moto as posted to the 'see your bike' section here . One can't tell much from looking at those though, as the microns simply fit as they 'should', no more no less.
