Does anyone know if YAMBITS are still in business ? I've been trying to order some parts from them for weeks - I even e-mailed them photos of the bits I needed ( at their request ) but now I can't get any response. They don't answer the phone and haven't replied to my e-mails. Anyone know what's happening ?

Norbo -- thanks for the reply. I need a throttle-cable for my RZ250RR. David at Yambits said my bike was a Jap home market bike before communication ceased.

Or call Fowl-ups - I'd never buy a bike from them, but they are excellent for genuine Yamaha parts & not a rip off ...

Yep. def. still going, I got some footrest rubbers and a screen from them - double quick delivery. Although speaking to Dave at yambits he informed me that he is looking towards reducing his telephone sales and trying to get more business over the net. Reckons he spends too long each day on the dog and it's more efficient on the net. May be updating the website to cope?

you lot are lucky, ya cant just walk into a dealer here and get what you need for these older bikes , they can order the bits for you but depending were it comes from can take 2 or 3 weeks and here they want to charge like a wounded bull.there are 2 yamaha dealers in my area and the only time i had any luck was getting an oil filter housing o ring, i dont even bother giving them a call anymore. the last time i was there we had an argument when they tried justifying charging me 3 times more for something i could get on the internet.

Ken's experience mirrors mine... 3 PV castle seals... Au$110 to you sir... and thats the 'mates rate'... WTF?! they are like $6ea in the USA at any Yammy dealer and Norbo does em for a sensible £20... Au$110 is about 70 pounds... daylight robbery!
I had a chat with the Renthal importer, well to be honest he overheard me as he was on the phone to the sales guy who rang up about a sprocket for an RGV250 for me. I asked for a 39tooth version.... he said 'we only bring 40+ into Aus... they are $89.95ea'. I said 'youre forcing me to buy on online then, i can get one landed here from a shop in the uk for $50', he said 'Everyone else is doing that, you're putting me out of business!', I suggested his prices and his attitude were doing that, not the likes of me. They buy the sprockets from the UK and our currency has steadily improved over the pound for the last 10 years and their greed at making more profit and keeping local process the same was the issue i reckoned. Renthal reduced their sprocket prices this week to $69.95... go figure.

sorry to hi jack this thread, hey Jon at the yamaha dealer , i ordered some side cover grommits for a 1981 xj650 special, at this excuse for a shop you have to pay up front for any orders, well a few weeks later they get them in and call me,so i go get them and they turn out to be the wrong shape, i even took what was left of the old ones in with me when i ordered them, i couldnt convince them they stuffed up this order, they wouldnt take them back or refund me, they said what are we going to do with them, i couldnt believe it, there was only the spare parts bloke there and a wanna be mechanic and nothing i said made any difference, at any opportunity i get i tell anyone who will listen to avoid this joke of a place, rant over, sorry

Yeah sorry guys, but yep ive had similar experiences with my local dealers, its all pay-up-front here, no one will let you order if you dont put cash down. Very few places have anything in stock and its doubly annoying to give cash up front when you know they bank it and then take time to get parts in. In Aus you have to buy online from the rest of the world, sad but true.

Norbo -- thanks for the reply. I need a throttle-cable for my RZ250RR. David at Yambits said my bike was a Jap home market bike before communication ceased. Is yours the 1 with 1 cable that pulls both carbs up at the same time . or is it like normal carbs with 1 line to each carb.

Hi norbo - I have the push-pull carbs. One cable to do both - ie., one cable to pull open both carbs and another cable to push both shut. Plus of course, the oil pump cable and connectors. I'll want the oil pump cable for if I sell the bike but I won't be fitting it when I have rebuilt it - I'm removing the oil pump and running it on premix for as long as I own it.
