Anybody got an alternative way of holding the cluch basket so i can tighten the darn thing without shelling out £20 for a tool which will sit on the bench forever unused and and unloved, bit like carlos Tevez really. Points will be awarded on imagination, cuning and style oh ye and cheapness ;D

ive seen a picture of one in the haynes manuel that is home made out of a thin strip of metal,page 44, shaped a bit like the letter S

If you got an old set of clutch plates bolt a friction & plane plate together, this will lock the clutch then jam a 2p piece between the primary gears. Job done ;D Buy the proper tool, you'll be surprised how many times you use it

I've just got a local engineering shop to weld a rod to an old plain plate. Haven't tried it yet so hopefully it wll be strong enough.

I did the one out of the haynes book and it works just looks like an S if you have a bit of metal that is would put a pic up but its buried inthe back of the garage
