Eliminating ALL unneccessary electricals on Mk1?

Hello.

I'm in a discussion on another forum, there's a guy who wants to build a gokart and use an RD engine, (Mk1) and he has found an engine but it doesn't have a CDI or ignition coil.

I know he'll need those two units but what about the rest? Can you safely run the engine with nothing but the CDI and ignition coil, or do you need the reg/rec unit and a battery (or battery eliminator)? Anything else to think about?

think you need cdi a killswich and a coil.you dont need charging coils or reg. everything elce is for lights and not needed . Ask him to pop over if he needs advice and help im sure we can sort him out .
